Missouri State University Handball Scholarships

The Missouri State Handball Team is a club sport on campus. We do not offer scholarships through the university. There are foundation and community scholarships targeted for handball players. Please see the list of opportunities and past recipients below.

Dr. Thomas H. Burnett Scholarship, Springfield Handball Club

This scholarship is awarded to a Missouri State Handball Team leader that not only exhibits success on the court, but success in promoting the game of handball through energy and advocacy for the team and sport. Selections are made through a family committee.

George Salmon Memorial Handball Scholarship


Awarded to a full-time student based on performance in handball competitions and expressed desire to compete in National Collegiate Handball Tournament. When awarded to a sophomore or greater, student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0. Scholarship recipients may be considered for renewal of the scholarship, but must continue to compete on the handball team and go through the selection process. May apply at the Missouri State University Foundation Scholarships through MyMissouriState.

Louis and Bertha Oxenhandler Memorial Handball Fund


The fund shall be used for expenses related to the operation of the Handball Team, including scholarships. The designated coach of the team shall be responsible for determining how the funds will be used to best advance the goals of the program. Funds may be expended at a maximum amount of $1500. United States Handball Association (USHA) Scholarships

Mardak Scholarship: This scholarship is available to any Certified USHA Instructor who is a full-time collegiate handball player and is teaching handball to students or new playersDeadline: November 15th More Info: HERE

David Chapman Memorial Collegiate Scholarship: This scholarship is available to any full-time collegiate handball player who plays in California or Missouri and may also be from either state. Deadline: November 15th More Info: HERE

Team Aware Collegiate Handball Scholarship: A scholarship In Memory of Chatten Hayes for collegiate handball players who were affected by cancer (directly, family member, or other loved ones). Deadline: November 15th More Info: HERE

John Sabo Sr. Memorial Scholarship: The very first collegiate handball scholarship for any full-time collegiate handball player. Deadline to apply: December 31st. More Info: HERE

Bob and Sue Delaney Scholarship: This scholarship is available to any full-time collegiate handball player who plays in Arizona or Illinois and may also be from either state. Deadline to apply: April 15th More Info: HERE
